Just Show Up

Writing is not easy, sometimes you have to just show up and write, pound out words, or free-write, to get the juices flowing.

The process of writing a novel, even a short story, can be a very daunting task. Many experts have various suggestions on how to get that kernel of an idea into a living breathing finished work of love.

But here’s the thing; they all work for those writers because they figured out what works best for them. You’re an individual. What works for one will not necessarily work for another. However, all of those different processes have ONE key ingredient:

They show up to write every day.

It sounds easy, but it isn’t.

Showing up to write everyday takes discipline. But if you want to be successful then that is what it takes. That doesn’t mean you have to sit down for hours each day and slave over your computer.

Think of it this way: If you wrote just 1 page every day for a year, that would be 365 pages in a year’s time. That’s a FULL LENGTH NOVEL!

Sometimes you will write more, sometimes you will write less, but the key is just to show up. Make a commitment to yourself and your dreams to sit at that computer and write something, anything, even if it’s a single sentence. What that’s going to do is instill a routine within you until you slowly begin to see your masterpiece taking shape.

Everyone has a story, just show up and write yours!

To your success,
