The 1920’s were a vastly changing time in America. Prohibition was in its infancy, the first commercial radios were in use, and the economy was booming. For Ellie Grace, a young black maid for a powerful family in Maryville Mississippi, an infatuation with one of the most influential men in the South would end in intrigue and murder. In the wake of the controversy three families would be forever changed with a child left searching for answers. Inspired by true events, Served By Grace tells the story of a young woman’s dream of happiness and forbidden love and a family’s quest for answers.

Reviews:

I loved the book. It is fast moving and keeps the reader wondering what happens next. I was impressed with the intrigue throughout the book.
Excellent story, well written.
Good plot right to the end.
This is an amazing book of many different characters who each play very important roles throughout the entire book. The book is a powerful example of what went on in the 1920’s and examples of what people could sometimes get away with then. The book kept my interest up until the very end. The characterizations and plotting were well conceived, which made the mystery seem all the more real.
Great book! Really enjoyed the story. It is a must read!
This murder mystery is an intriguing story of forbidden love, selfish decisions, and consequences of these actions in an easy to read, spell bounding account of the complexities of life in the roaring 20’s. This book is a great read and you will love it!!

In the dark recesses of Hale County, Tennessee, madness abounds. Dr. Evan Michaels is obsessed with finding a cure for the fractured psyche of the human mind. The Hale County Mental Institute was an old prison turned into an asylum for the criminally insane, as well as a home for the psychologically unwell. But in the lower recesses of the former prison, far removed from its unsuspecting staff, dark experiments are being performed, turning madmen into monsters. Amanda Richardson, an investigative reporter from Nashville, is determined to find the truth about the goings on in the asylum. Tipped by a former inmate of the asylum, she barrels head long into the darkness. Standing in her way: the no-nonsense Sheriff, a corrupt Mayor, and unseen forces; lurking in every shadow of the cursed county. But something far more evil has returned to the county after a century, centered on the new science professor at the community college. Jason Locke possesses the key to an unmarked grave that could save the ill-begotten county, or push it inevitably into everlasting darkness. This is the first book in the Hale County Serial Novel series.
